Thank You to Our Veterans

Today is Veterans Day, which honors so many of our customers, colleagues and family members and friends. To all who have given their service to our country, we say thank you.
If you have a story of a Veteran you'd like to share, please do so in the comments section here. We also invite you to read a story of one of our customers – Don Singlestad – who served our country in World War II and was honored in Italy this fall for his role in saving Rome.
Thank you, all!

I served almost 3 years in Berlin in the early 1970s at the height of the cold war. It was both interesting and unnerving to travel the perimeter of the Berlin Wall and feel the tension in the air at all times. Recently the world celebrated the 20th anniversary of the fall of that wall which for so long symbolized communist tyranny and repression. I am proud to have contributed in some small way to the triumph of democracy over totalitariansim. It was brought about through strong resolve of the American people and a top notch military force.
I have been interviewing all the Veterans in my building and the adjoining buidling. It has been a great experience for the Veterans as well as for me. I have learned so much about the sacrifice of the men (and women) that live in our buidlings and I have a greater respect for military personnel and operations as a whole. You just can't get this stuff in a book!
I would like to Honor the memory of my brother, Richard W. Hulbert.(10/11/51-12/23/00) Richard served in the United States Marine Corp. from 1970 to 1974. In those 4 years he was deeply involved in several conflicts around the world. Richard enlisted in United States Army in 1987 and spent the majority of the 4 years in Germany. Richard was a very proud soldier and Veteran. Richard donated many hours after his return to the states to help serve meals on holidays out of VFW clubs. Thank all of you for your sacrfices and bravery.
My father Peter Tamillo, Jr served in the United States Navy, my husband Bill served in the Air National Guard, my sister Shelley and her husband Jeff West are Air National Guard, active duty. My brother was training to be a pilot but due to a severe accident he could not be a pilot. Both my uncles served in the military. I am thankful for their commitment to the safety of our United States and pray that they will always return home safe.
